As the PR guy for Seagram, it was my job to protect the company’s image, not an easy task during what was known as the Neo-Prohibition Movement. Alcohol was deemed horrible and, what we sold, spirits (never hard liquor), were the horriblest. We were getting slammed in the press, especially for a product called Canadian Hunter Whisky, a dreadful concoction of rye, bits of leather, pond water and motor oil.
