I was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency twice, but never worked for them. The agency is made up of two main sections, the Directorate of Intelligence, for the analysis of important trends, like crop reports and weather events and those employees can say where they work and what they do. The other unit is the Directorate of Operations. Within that is the Clandestine Service, which collects human intelligence or in CIA-speak, humint. I was given a reading list of 20 books, half favorable to the agency and half critical because it was important to understand what you were getting into. CIA makes an astonishing claim about their organization, one that seems to defy logic.
