Monkeys in the Kitchen
Restaurant jargon is some of the richest in the English language. 86, for example, means a dish or ingredient is no longer available — or to bar a patron forever (it may be rhyming slang from the word nix). Fire it is the order to begin cooking the food right now. Campers describes customers who linger at the table long after their dinner is over and one stars are people who look to find fault in the eatery. My favourite is monkey dish because of its alleged origins.
