In Norway, you don’t refer to your significant other as boyfriend or girlfriend. You say kajereste, which is gender neutral and means “the dearest”. In Sweden, you address your special someone as älskling - “my beloved one”. In Finland you say, mulkvisti, “the one I don’t hate as much as the others”. But England’s got ‘em all beat.
