The number of important, complex subjects upon which I am unqualified to opine is infinite, but let’s pick one anyway. We’re giving the giant Wheel of Topics a spin, it’s ticking away and now it’s beginning to slow down and we… have… CULTURE WARS! Those heated battles that have riven the nation arrived at Bethlehem, NY, an Albany suburb of some 35,000 souls. The town library there held its first Drag Story Hour last Thursday and it created a kerfuffle. Advocates and opponents remained civil, however, and the event went off without anybody’s crinoline getting snagged. The Drag Story Hour occasioned a mild debate, as well, at New Bellevue House between Mrs Oliver and me. The color commentary follows.
