William R “Bill” Snow, an expert on mergers and acquisitions, was on NPR just now talking about Nordstrom’s effort to go private. The family that started the department store chain took it public in 1971, but lately sales have flagged so they want it back. Naturally, his usage sent scurrying me on a word hunt.
