Shinrin yoku is the decades old Japanese practice of relaxing in nature or “forest bathing”. You leave the cares of city life behind, shut off the iPhone and laptop, forget work and go talk to the trees. Well, actually you’re not meant to talk to the trees. Instead, take deep cleansing breaths into the abdomen, while extending the exhalation of air to twice the length of the inhalation which sends a message to the body that it can relax. Some people actually believe this appalling gibberish and wander into the forest to be set upon by wolverines, lynx and wildebeest. Whelp, as far as I’m concerned, you had it coming, buddy boy, you pasty-faced, lily-livered twat. HVAC, microwave ovens, microplastics and flat screen TVs are what make us human, for the love of Pete. Besides here’s what happens to me in the wood.
