As a cadet in l’Ecole Militaire, I remember thinking I wanted to be a writer. But at 15, there isn’t much to write about, apart from Patricia Nowicki’s superstructure - and that work you wouldn’t want your parents, let alone Patricia Nowicki, to read. I did end-up spending my adult life writing, if you classify corporate propaganda and speeches as writing. I enjoyed the clarity of it, the ability to translate arcane business deals into accessible stories and talks. This talent kept me [mostly] employed for 40 years, but there was another, and equally important, component to my career.
