I’m not a fan of big performance venues in the summer, still I’ve been to a few. Wolf Trap is a scant three miles from the Beltway in DC, Tanglewood in Lenox, Mass, is lush and lovely and the 100-year-old Art Deco Hollywood Bowl come to mind. Here in Saratoga we have SPAC, which stands for the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. It was created by Governor Nelson Rockefeller in the 1960s as part of a plan to give new life to the Saratoga area. It’s long been the summer home to the New York City Ballet and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Those little acts run for cover when the giant dinosaurs show up, this weekend being a case-in-point.
