At one point in his illustrious career, Marmaduke Constable was made a Sir and a Constable, a 15th Century presaging of Major Major Major Major, the famous character in Catch-22. A name like his cried out for a title, a knighthood, a suit of armour, a grand estate and the favour of the King, all of which he got. But today we do not concern ourselves with his glorious exploits in life, but rather how he met his mortal conclusion. It involved a frog.
