Cynthia Ann Stephanie “Cindi” Lauper (born June 22, 1953) is an American singer, songwriter, actress and activist whose career has spanned over 40 years. She’s one of the most successful performers in all of rock and roll, selling more than 50 million records worldwide. She’s won awards at the Grammys, Emmys, Tonys, the New York’s Outer Critics Critics Circle, the MTV Video Music Awards, the Billboard Awards and the American Music Awards. In addition, she’s been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her song Time After Time is one of the most covered tunes in music history. Plus, with that extraordinary BBQ* accent, she’s a delight to listen to in interviews. But there’s one thing about Ms Lauper’s past very few people in or outside show business know. It’s not included in any bio material on her anywhere. Here it is.
