I’ve been out of the wine trade for a long time. My knowledge of trends and products is not what it once was and I tend to old, familiar ways. I promised not to venture out after the imbroglio this morning, but I broke my own promise and to the liquor store I wended tout seul. In my time in the trade, California was a novelty act, South America was a place where the outré vacationed and Italian reds were regarded as a kind of cheap Southern European motor oil.
