Moving to a new place, however nearby, means changes great and small. For example, my books are now bathed in a rich sunlight that hitherto eluded them. I’m now able to see the many poor intellectual choices I’ve made over the years, clouding my small mind with detritus. The wine cellar is three times the size it was, but it is charmless with nary a cobweb nor mouse dropping in sight. I’ve seen the refrigerator and it is larger than an M-1 Abrams battle tank. It spews shaved or cubed ice all over the kitchen floor for reasons I’m not aware of. But one component of our bright and shining home has me stumped.
