Plus Ça Change. On this day in 1918, President Wilson landed in France, the first American chief executive to do so. He was there to help negotiate a peace treaty for WW I and to promote The League of Nations. Republicans in Congress opposed the League because they were isolationist and refused to accept an interconnected world. One hundred years ago, the GOP did what they’re doing right now. Holding up a picture of a cat and telling you it’s a dog. It goes way back.
