If you’re unfamiliar with the pioneering career of the Elmer Freytag, Esq, immediate Googling is called for. Mr Freytag was instrumental in founding the International Curling Federation in 1965. A Chicago attorney, he drafted the original constitution and became its American representative. As are all great things in life, curling was invented in 16th Century Scotland and has dominated team sports on the professional and collegiate levels ever since. To its eternal shame, the CHF didn’t induct Elmer until 2021, which rankles true believers to this very moment. There’s a personal reason I’m tell you all this.
