King John of England (1166 - 1216) had a rough life. He lost his holdings in the north of France, faced a revolt by the Barons, was forced into signing the Magna Carta giving said Barons real power, got excommunicated by the Pope, was kind of a man-whore, had at least seven illegitimate children by married noblewomen, which was way not cool. Moreover, he got no respect. His nickname was John Lacklands, because he kept loosing property. Anybody who mattered thought he was a crappy administrator and nasty, horny, rude brute to boot. He never found the right PR agency that would sort his image, like, say, Ye Olde Burson-Marsteller, but, hey, what’s done is done. Here’s why I’m telling you all this.
