Leesa and I went to the opera yesterday at Saratoga’s Universal Preservation Hall - UPH - the very building in which we were married in 2021. It was an exhuberant Sunday for us because of the happy memories we have there and the astonishingly strong performance of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder by the cast of Opera Saratoga. Moreover, the chap who wrote that blockbuster 2013 musical, Steven Lutvak, stayed on afterward to discuss the making of his show. Leesa’s the HR director for The Proctors Collaborative (UPH’s a member) so first-rate seats were the order of the day. For yours truly, however, a dark cloud scudded about the venue, an unexpected reminder of grim times gone by…
