One of the charming geographic features of New Bellevue House is serpentine Lake Leesa, seen below in a photo taken from the main balcony. The result of a glacier transiting the region thousands of years ago, the lake is now fully stocked with trout, bass, Peruvian tooth fish, koi and piranha. In summer months, staff make routine use of it with their pontoon boats, skidoos and ironclad submersibles. The wife and I, too, of a quiet June morning will take a peddle craft out which Leesa operates whilst I serenade her with love songs on the ukulele. Just now in late winter, Finial, my manservant, is getting things sorted for my annual foray into the not-so-briny deep. He’s cleaning and checking the SCUBA kit in preparation for my dip into Lake Leesa on or about 10 April. Here’s what I expect.
