The portrait of Madame de Senonnes (also known as La Trastéverine) is an 1816 painting by Jean-August-Dominique Ingres. It shows Madame de Senonnes, née Marie-Genevieve-Marguerite Marcoz, Viscountess of Senonnes (1783–1828), who was 31 when the portrait was completed.
Ingres didn't like to do portraiture, but he really needed the quid.
The picture hangs in the library at Bellevue House, Saratoga Springs, NY. On the back of the artwork is a sticker that reads - and I quote - “Made in China”.
The elaborate desk beneath the painting is Scottish, circa 1810.
The room is where I do all my great thinking.
The room where I do my thinking has a porcelain decor.
I don't think...that's my problem...
