I’m the son of a man of business, tiny though it was, and I spent my entire working life in giant corporations. So, while not a business person myself, I have enormous regard for anybody who starts an enterprise, great or small. It takes courage, brains, discipline and deep pockets. Right now I’m doing pro bono work for a young couple who are operating a breakfast and lunch place in Saratoga. Their dreams and energy are things of wonder and my meager effort on their behalf is good for the soul. Having said that, earlier today, an encounter with a local entrepreneur has left me with a head-scratcher.
